CRITICAL SERVICE FOR military personnel
Sales & operations planning diagnostic
The Challenge
This critical service was forecast to cost Defence £466M over the next decade. However, Defence lacked a planning cycle for the service and users could access the related contracted services without restriction, setting demand at will. There was no mechanism to capture, interrogate or shape the demand signal. The client therefore commissioned a six-week sprint to deliver a Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) diagnostic.

The Squarcle Solution
- Mobilise & manage the diagnostic.
- Understand and document the ‘as-is’ environment, conducting process mapping, maturity assessments and a universal map to understand the user journey.
- Gathered, cleansed, and analysed a vast array of data to provide insight into cost/spend/ product consumption, CO2 emissions, and KPIs.
- Examined options for increased effectiveness and efficiency, by conducting Root Cause Analysis.

The Results
- Proposed a Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle to be implemented.
- Identified an S&OP process by using existing accredited technology such as (PEGA) to allow Defence to rapidly manage digital workflows.
- Identified implementation benefits of:
- 10 – 25% reduced safety stock
- <35% reduction in planner effort
- 20 – 25% increased forecast accuracy
- 2 – 3x faster planning cycles
This sprint project has been well managed throughout
